Studying - a word that brings terror to even the most academic of minds. But it needn’t always be met with fear. In fact, there are several things you can do to help boost your brainpower. Whether you’re studying towards a part-time degree qualification or studying a logistics course, there are a few tricks to help you succeed!

Eat a great breakfast

Skipping breakfast will make it harder for you to concentrate on your studies. In fact, you’re more likely to have a shorter session if you neglect the most important meal of the day. Taking in calories first thing in the morning i.e. breakfast, helps to boost your memory, which will allow you to take in the information that you study. Plus, a grumbling tummy is terribly distracting.

Walk it off

Exercise and brainpower go hand in hand. Studies have shown that a 20-minute walk or the same amount of exercise before an exam can boost your memory and increase brain activity and performance. Doctor Chuck Hillman from the University of Illinois conducted this study, and we have to say, we think he’s on to something!

Say it out loud

Many of us already talk to ourselves, but saying what you’re learning out loud as opposed to silently reading it helps your brain process the information in a more effective way. You’re also more likely to remember it later on.

Teach your friends

The true test of how effective your studying has been is to try and explain it to another person. This will ensure that you can break it down into the most logical explanation, which will definitely get you more marks in an exam! We say, there’s never been a better reason to organise a group study session…
